Color Theory and Emotional Effects

1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting.

There is psychological properties of colors, they can relate respectively to the body, mind and emotions and the essential balance between the three. Emotions to colors reacts on different hues, saturations and brightness. Each color strikes a different feeling in the human’s mind.

2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why?
What fascinates and intrigues me the most about color is the fact that colors are everywhere. In every shade, hues, saturation, and brightness. Colors exists since the beginning of time, and it’s apart of everyday life. There is no escaping color, not even when you close your eyes.

3. In the Color video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions?
What made the biggest impact on me in regards to color was the way that the artist June reacted to her painting. The color wasn’t right in her opinion. Her painting seemed “violent” but she wanted it to be “mysterious”. The colors she used were dark blues, and looking at her painting I could feel a sense of darkness. If she displayed her painting without me having a bias opinion based off of how she wanted her viewers to see it, I would agree the painting looked a little dark, or in her words “violent”. Colors does arouse emotions in a person without them really thinking about it.

4. In the Feelings video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions?
In the Feelings video, what made the biggest impact to me in regards to color and it's effects on emotions that it can be somewhat of an easy task to stir up different reactions and feeling when it comes to art that is painted, drawn or sculpted. Facial expressions and the body gestures play a significant role in having the viewer feel a type of way, and the colors add a dramatic effect. The colors usually play off of the feeling of the painting for an example. If someone is angry in a painting the facial expression and the deep dark colors of reds will strike feeling of danger and awareness
